| dear frankie (trailer: http://www.apple.com/trailers/miramax/dear_frankie.html)
this is an excellent movie. it's a drama and a tear-jerker (my mom
cried but nikki and i remained cold and heartless). well acted, and
good dialogue. since its a independent film, don't expect big movie
effects or CGI. this one is pure acting at its best. the son's
performance is brilliant. and his friends are really funny. the kid dancing in the hallway cracks me up.
i would say rent this movie if you're in the mood for a sentimental
feel-good movie. but warning.....its not a chick-flick. overall, 3
thumbs up (one from nik, one from my mom, and one from myself).

| since i quit MDA. and funny enough, i don't miss the place. i miss my
co-workers and friends, but not the company. here's a shout out to all
my co-workers who are currently on strike. YOU GUYS ROCK!!! (apparently
i'm not the only one not pleased with the working conditions, another
15 ppl left the company between wedneday afternoon and thursday
morning).
so, what have i been doing with my time off? well, i'd like to say
softball, but i'd be lying. i've played ONE game so far....and two
pratices (both practices when Cindy was in town). i'm not
happy......but i'm joining a wednesday night team, so hopefully that
will help with my softball withdrawal. =)
i'm also taking art classes. not, i'm not sure if many of you know, but
i'm a horrible artist. in fact, i remember once having Pho with Frank,
Cindy, Roberta (3 artists), Tony, Jimmy, and myself (3 non-artists). we
decided to have a competition between the three non-artists (with the 3
artists as judges).....Tony, Jimmy, and I had to draw:
i) a stick man
ii) a teapot
iii) a plastic cup.
the competition wasn't even close. i was by far the worst of the
three.....so anyways...back to the original statement....i'm taking an
art/drawing class and its fun. my stick men are still pretty pathetic,
but at least i know what negative space is. every time the teacher
looks at my work, she pats my head and says that "it's coming
along....". when i told her i was an engineer, she said "ahhh....that's
explains it...". hahahhaa.
finally....i've decided to start a movie review page. since i'm
currently unemployed and finding myself with LOTS of free time (a
statement not a complaint since i'm totally loving the free time),
Nikki and I have been checking out a whole lot of movies.
here's a list of movies i've seen and will be providing a review for shortly:

| i made it to winnipeg safely. guess i'm an official manitoban
now.....feels weird. i'm missing TO already. like i was driving around
today, and i was thinking, MAN this place is small. and NO ONE speeds.
what's up with that. I think the fastest my car got up to was 80km.
that's disgusting.
another weird note...i used a garage opener today. seems like a simple
thing. but i haven't used one in years. not used to it. weird how we
forget small things.
but i had family dinner tonight. first sunday family dinner in a long
time. it was fun. talked politics. i think my dad is leaning towars the
Conservatives. Mr. Liberal, who made me super liberal, is thinking of
voting Conservatives next election. i was absolutely shocked. what's
this world coming to???
| the movers have taken most of my stuff away, and my place is looking
pretty empty right now. and when i talk, my apt echoes.....scary.....it's starting to hit me that i'm leaving. my
apartment's empty. i don't have to go to work. and i'm starting to miss
everyone. weird since i'm still in the same city as them.
i have to say a HUGE thanks to RBA and C4 because without their help last night, i would have been screwed. THANKS!!!
